The 2020 Democratic Party Candidates Need A Crisis Plan
Pardon my absence as I fell into a long hole of writer’s block. However, I was inspired to write today’s post after Senator Cory Booker announced his campaign for the 2020 election. It has come to my attention that quite a few fan favorites from the Democratic party have announced their run for presidency. However, one thing I worry about is their crisis plan.
When you’re a public figure, almost everything you do is recorded whether you know it or not. In fact, a lot of the time it can be easy to find. That being said, I know not everyone is perfect, but the world would like to think the future President should be. So, going into 2020 these democratic party candidates need a strong crisis plan in place to combat any potential hiccups.
What do I propose?
I recommend doing an in-depth audit of their entire life. This means their social media footprint, what deals have they done, who have they talked to, where is their campaign money coming from, etc. Using this information, a PR crisis team or rather their campaign staff, can put together scenarios that may come up and how to respond to them. This is kind of like the stealing thunder strategy that is used by lawyers.
What does a 2020 democratic party candidate need?
2020 is going to be a high-stakes election. It will most likely be the most important election in history. So, simply stating things that sound good is not going to be enough. These candidates need to act. They need to practice what they preach in a sense. They need to be strong leaders and show that they are strong. Yet, they need to have a certain level of charisma and likability. Luckily, these candidates have time to work on this before the 2020 election but they must work on it.
The youth vote is going to be extremely important for 2020 and these candidates need to position themselves for that. In doing so, they need to be transparent. People want candidates that they can trust, someone who is honest. So, having a crisis plan in place that aims to do just that would be a wise move for these candidates.
